Really great week. We added a bunch of new photos to the website, and added the ability to sell chainmesh spheres as a fidget toy. Excited to start to define the new visual language for Starsuit. I met a mathematician who specializes in computational circle packing, we’re gonna have a lot to talk about! On the software side, this was a really big week. We improved automatic recordkeeping, so there should never be a question about what print came from which job. We improved voro search a bit more, settling on packs that have fewer holes at the expense of slightly lower density. We now track if any links dislodge during the simulation and flag if so, which is especially helpful because we can now combine multiple different chainmeshes into one collapse/print volume. We can also now add arbitrary solid elements into chainmesh, allowing us to have print-in-place palm bars, mounting points, or whatever else we need. All of this is wrapped in a new UI for job setup, fine tuning settings, and dispatching jobs to run locally or in the cloud. On the mechanical side, a lot of work went into designing the interface between the vacuum arm manifold and the chainmesh sleeve, which requires an absurd level of ajustability in a very small area. Still a few more things to figure out, but looks like we’re really on the right track, and it’s critical to get this right.
