Great week, went to Payload’s Off World conference in Houston, which was super interesting. Very curious what Jared Isaacman’s Artemis Acceleration will look like, and if that has anything to do with the new sortie suit (basically just stripping back some of the requirements for axiom), we will be in for a lot of work over the next few months! At the conference, I also made some great connections with people who have worked on systems as they go from benchtop to human rated infrastructure, which is going to be immensely useful experience for us to learn from. I also had a very interesting conversation about other uses for chainmesh as a restraint layer, I’l be very interested to see where that goes. On the software side, we made a bunch of usability improvements do the dispatch UI, ranging from per-part poses, some intuituve quality of life features that make it easier to understand different tests, better job telemetry, and majorly, separating the generation and simulation stages so that when run in the cloud, each gets a machine tailored to what resources it needs, which ended up being both faster and cheaper. On the hardware/softgoods side, the final design for the chainmesh glove to vacuum manifold interface is settled on, and a workable version is done. We may make one more revision, depending on how the glove changes ahead of vacuum chamber testing.
