Very solid week! Massively, the Starsocks tech stack is now feature complete! Great push from Indigo on that. There are a few touch ups we will want to add before doing any kind of scale, but to be able to actually perform end to end demos now is really wonderful. Reconnecting with the hospital to get that ball rolling asap. We also tested out a new manufacturing method that should yield MUCH stronger parts, and in parallel, exploring a possible collaboration with another Newlab member who makes beautifully designed desk toys (but to call them desk toys honestly feels inappropriate considering the level of detail and precision). I had been planning to buy some of his stuff for a while so it would be great to collaborate and start getting our prints out into the world. In the process of ordering the new print, I found a few small optimizations to the chainmesh pipeline that ensures we have as dense a packing as we can reasonably get. Admittedly, I may have spent a bit more time on that than I should have, but it also makes me rest easy knowing that we aren’t leaving money or performance on the table when we don’t have to. We also got the go-ahead to start building an outdoor community space alongside one of the dry docks in the navy yard, so I’m looking forward to hosting those.
